Dallas Cowboys sign the USFL MVP KaVontae Turpin
Today the Dallas Cowboys signed a former TCU standout wide receiver in KaVontae Turpin. Turpin recently played for the New Jersey Generals and won the MVP for the league. Turpin becomes the 21st player signed from the USFL to the NFL.
The Cowboys released fullback Nick Ralston in a corresponding move, but boy did they sign an explosive player.
Turpin is a fun player to watch, he is extremely fast and has some Tyreek Hill abilities. He led the USFL with 540 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 44 receptions in 10 games. He can also return punts and racked up 184 yards on punt returns.
Turpin absolutely tore up the USFL, and this is his first time getting a shot in the NFL.
Turpin has had run-ins with the law in the past, that prevented him from getting a legit shot.
According to CBS Sports, The 26-year-old was released from TCU’s football program in 2018 following domestic violence charges that were eventually pled down to disorderly conduct and, in October, he was arrested for misdemeanor assault against the same girlfriend, Turpin officially issuing a guilty plea for the charge of assault causing bodily injury.
If Turpin can stay out of trouble he could be a huge weapon for the Cowboys.
