Day 1 of Free Agency was fun, but who won? Who lost? Who overspent? Who made the best moves? Who was the most underrated signing? Find out!

Joe Thuney Chiefs Free Agency signing
Chiefs signed former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Thuney and he will be a huge signing for the Chiefs. This was a monster deal but worth it. You have to protect your QB.

Free Agency has just started and after just one day some teams made some big time splashes. I want to go over some of my favorite signings from the day, some of the biggest head scratchers, and also dig deep into some of the other moves.

Let’s answer some of the biggest questions surrounding the first day of Free Agency.

WHO WON?

I know you clicked on this article because you want to know which team one after the first day of Free Agency, so let’s break it down!

The Kansas City Chiefs won – Sorry, they landed the top offensive guard in free agency, after their players were unselfish and freed up tons of money to get Mahomes some protection. If the Chiefs want to go back to the Super Bowl, they need to protect him. The Chiefs spent a pretty penny on Joe Thuney, but he is going to a stacked team. With DuVernay-Tardif returning the Chiefs interior is set. They just need to find some tackles at this point, but they can do that via the draft.

WHO LOST?

New England Patriots – I know everyone is going to say the Patriots made a splash, they did great, no they overspent. If this was the Jacksonville Jaguars or New York Jets they would be getting crushed right now. Because it is Bill Belichick and the Patriots everyone is loving it. They paid Nelson Agholor 11 million a year, are you kidding me? They overpaid for players and to me that is a loss.

Who made the best moves?

New York Jets – The Jets did not go bananas, they actually made good and solid signings. I think they made three very underrated signings. Signing Jarrad Davis who was not used correctly for the Lions, Corey Davis who is young and was not given enough opportunities in Tennessee, and Carl Lawson who gets to the QB. Overall, they improved their team.

Tennessee Titans – I have to give the Titans some love too. They landed Bud Dupree and Denico Autry. Two solid pass rushers who can get to the QB. Last year, that was something they could not get with Jadeveon Clowney and Vic Beasley.

WORST SIGNING ON DAY ONE?

Miami Dolphins – They had one signing and it was Cethan Carter. Carter is a special teamer I get that but he has 7 career receptions for 66 yards and 1 touchdown. They paid the 6’3, 248 pound fullback/tight end a three year deal worth 7.8 million with 2.7 million guaranteed.

Most Underrated Signing?

Minnesota Vikings – Vikings signed DT Dalvin Tomlinson to a two year deal worth 22 million deal. Adding Tomlinson to Mike Pierce is going to be nasty. The Vikings amazing defensive front will be nasty. Anthony Barr and Danielle Hunter will be nasty with some beef up front.
