Diamond Talk: Alex Pechin, P, Bucknell University | You can call him Golden Leg

NFL Draft Diamonds owner loves specialist and Alex Pechin is one of his favorites in the FCS

Alex Pechin is one of the best punters in the entire nation. Pechin has a monster leg and can become a huge weapon for an NFL team. Add in the fact that he was a quarterback in high school and you have a dangerous weapon.

Pechin was a member of the basketball, baseball, and football team for Unionville High School in Pennsylvania.  He was a first team All-Chesmont League Quarterback and Kicker as a Senior in college.  As a senior in high school he averaged 41.8 yards per punt, and also hit 8 field goals. I mean this kid is a jack of all trades, and he was a pitcher in baseball and pitched in two World Series games in 2013 and 2014.  I love athletes, but this kid is much more than just that. He can be used as a weapon in the NFL. He can execute a fake punt and throw the ball, he can kick if your kicker is injured, I mean he has everything you want in a Punter.

He was named the Bucknell starting punter as a Freshman and has been dominating since.  He averaged 42.1 yards as a Freshman on 64 punts, and earned All-Patriot League First team.

In 2016 as a Sophomore, Pechin averaged 39.3 yards per put on 14 punts and also took over on kick offs kicking off 9 times for a 61.9 yard average.

As a junior, Pechin broke the school record with 45.1 yards per punt on a total of 72 punts.  He had 26 punts that went 50 plus yards, and 34 inside the 20.

As a Senior, Pechin was named a team captain by his coaches and teammates.  He broke the school record with 81 punts, and averaged 44.5 yards per punt.  He hit 29 punts at least 50 yards and landed 28 inside the 20.  He was blessed to be given a 5th year and I am expecting him to shine again.

Pechin should be considered a draftable player. He has a huge leg and is a game changer at his position. I love this kid’s ability.
