Report: Former GVSU RB Marty Carter paralyzed following shooting
Marty Carter left Grand Valley State University hoping to latch on with an NFL team and support his family, but that dream changed rapidly when he was gunned down last weekend.
Former Grand Valley State standout running back Martayveus “Marty” Carter, has bullet fragments in his spine and some degree of paralysis, according to Grand Valley State Lakers coach Matt Mitchell, via MLive.com.
“He’s still in the hospital, he’s conscious and they’re weighing surgery and the next options,” Mitchell told MLive of the school’s all-time rushing leader who was injured during a shootout Saturday near a gas station in East Chicago
Mitchell was uncertain the extent of paralysis, other than “he is conscious and is aware of it.”
This is really sad news for the former Lakers running back that entered the Supplemental Draft last month. We will continue to lift Marty up in prayer and ask that you do the same.
