NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Analysis: Roquan Smith, OLB, Georgia
Prospect Analysis: Roquan Smith, OLB, Georgia
Roquan Smith definitely has first-round potential and talent that speaks for itself. He covers the field very well as he clocked in with a 4.51 40 yard dash at the combine, not only does he have great speed but he is also very explosive and fluid as well. Yes, he is a tad undersized, but he makes up for that with a high football IQ as well as being a tremendous leader. He can make every play on the field and he is only going to get better, I can also see him making the transition to the WILL position in the NFL. This past season he racked up 95 tackles which led the Bulldogs. He does a great job of slipping blocks and flipping his pursuit from one target to the next. When it comes to coverage, he is extremely good at jumping crossing routes and squeezing receivers when he is playing a zone coverage. He is a face-up tackler and fills the gaps extremely well. I see him going mid to late first round, and he will make an impact immediately for any team that selects him.
