NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Nick Sharga, FB, Temple University

What is your name?

Nick Sharga

What is your Height/Weight?

6’1″ 244

What is your position?

Fullback

Where do you play college football?

Temple University

Where are you from?

Northampton, PA

Who is your role model, and why?

Jesus. Regardless of religious beliefs, it’s difficult to argue that the world wouldn’t be a better place if everyone lived their lives the way Jesus would.

Who was your favorite teacher?

Mr. Davis – history. He was a football guy himself and always gave me great advice.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Wrestling

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Aside from teammates, I have a lot of respect for Nico Marley. Plays hard and doesn’t say much.

Who is the most underrated player on your team?

Zack Mesday. Goes hard every play. I’m expecting big things from him this season.

What is the one song that would fire you up before the biggest game of your life?

Kashmir – Led Zeppelin

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Everyone is kind of taken back when I say this, but I don’t really watch football or any sports for that matter. I absolutely love playing the game and competing but I just don’t follow it much so it’s kind of difficult for me to answer that question. I like to think that my skill set and the way I carry myself on the field is unique.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

ACL tear (2011). I just took the rehab process one day at a time and didn’t rush to get back. I had a lot of great support from family and friends.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

It’s not exciting but I like to sit at the 45-yard line on our sideline and stretch out and listen to music and visualize the game.

What was the most memorable play of your collegiate career?

Probably the power play at the end of the 3rd quarter against USF in 2016. In my opinion, that was the play, and game, that put me on the map.

What is the coolest thing you ever did off the field for someone else?

This is kind of broad, but having 10 siblings allows myself and my family to arrange a pretty decent Secret Santa. This past Christmas was our second year doing it and it’s been a blast trying to get gifts that are meaningful for the sibling I get assigned.

Who was your favorite NFL team growing up?

Philadelphia Eagles

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

I’d have to go with Jesus again and my paternal grandparents who have passed. My grandmother was wheelchair-bound and couldn’t speak due to a stroke for as long as I could remember so it would be nice to talk to her for the first time.
