NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Analysis: Donte Jackson, CB , LSU
NFL Prospect Analysis: Donte Jackson, Cornerback, LSU
Donte Jackson is the fastest player in the draft, running an incredible 4.32 40-yard dash. He controls his body very well so he can handle air tight coverage and his backpedal is extremely smooth. Jackson is a very exciting prospect for teams simply because of his heightened athleticism and he has the traits to cover in the slot as well as outside. He closes on the ball remarkably fast, and he has also showed his ability to bait quarterbacks into throwing interceptions. He is a tad undersized, so I’m sure teams will be ready to challenge his solidity in run support. When he does have to help defend the rushing attack, he takes steep pursuit angles and his elite speed allows him to beat running backs to the boundary. Jackson does need to improve his route recognition but he certainly has the make-up speed to recover from any mistakes. I see him being drafted in the 2ndround and being a productive third cornerback this upcoming season.
