Player Comparisons: The Top 5 LB’s in the class compare to…WHO?
Linebacker – Comparing the top linebackers to others around the league by Austin Guptel
Tremaine Edmunds – Brian Urlacher: Edmunds can play sideline to sideline, rush the passer, and stop the run. Not to mention, Edmunds remains the best interior coverage linebacker in this draft.
Roquan Smith – Deion Jones: Smith is a high motor linebacker that makes plays all over the field. Smith will be able to contribute immediately against the run and in coverage.
Raashan Evans – Lawerence Timmons: Evans plays the run just as well as any other backer in this class. Evans showed great instincts and lateral movement, which allowed him to eat up ball carriers.
Leighton Vander Esch – Chad Greenway: Vander Esch is strong in zone coverage and does an excellent job of sorting through traffic to bring down ball carriers. A strong combine showing helped Vander Esch to continue to elevate his stock.
Malik Jefferson – Stephone Anthony: Jefferson is certainly one of the most physically gifted linebackers in this draft class. Though he is still raw, Jefferson comes in as arguably the best pass-rushing inside linebacker available. His upside will make him an attractive pick come April.
