Panthers are re-signing Charles Johnson on a one year deal worth three million

Carolina Panthers will retain defensive end Charles Johnson. The team released him the other day, but Johnson’s heart was at home. He had a visit with the Giants and the Buccaneers, but says it was not about money. He called Carolina home and said he is not worried about money, but rather getting back healthy.
After visiting with the Giants and the Buccaneers, DE Charles Johnson now plans to return to the Panthers, per team sources. Big return.

Charles Johnson telling me he almost signed with the #Giants. “I came pretty close, but ultimately my heart is in Carolina.”

Charles Johnson to me: “It’s not about the money. Carolina is home and I wouldn’t have been happy if I went somewhere else.” #Panthers

It’s a 1-year deal worth $3 million for Charles Johnson, per source. I’m told he turned down offers of $6M a year elsewhere to stay in CLT.
