49ers have released tight end Brian Leonhardt

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that they have waived tight end Brian Leonhardt.

He appeared in 4 games for the 49ers last season and recorded one reception for four yards. Prior to joining San Francisco, Leonhardt spent two seasons with the Raiders after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2013.

A 25-year-old native of Blaine, Minn., Leonhardt played collegiately at Bemidji State University where he appeared in 43 games and registered 112 receptions for 1,431 yards and 15 touchdowns.
