49ers name Blaine Gabbert the starter over Kaepernick; Work out a running back
Blaine Gabbert has earned a second consecutive start for the San Francisco 49ers.
Coach Jim Tomsula met with his quarterbacks Monday afternoon and informed them that Gabbert will start at Seattle after the Week 10 bye, according to the team’s official website. The decision comes as no surprise after watching Gabbert lead the 49ers to an upset victory over the Falcons on Sunday. The team also worked out a running back today.
Field Yates of ESPN reports that free agent RB Travaris Cadet worked out for the 49ers on Monday. Cadet was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He played college football at Appalachian State. He has also played for the New England Patriots. Cadet may be an option down the road according to Yates.
