Former Iowa State LB quits football after signing UDFA contract with the Ravens
According to the Baltimore Sun, former Iowa State linebacker Cory Morrissey walked away from football, deciding not to play roughly an hour before what would have been his first NFL practice with the Ravens.
“I have made the decision to step away from the game of football,” Morrissey announced on his Facebook page. “I’ve truly realized that I’ve lost the passion to play the game. I have been hiding behind a mask comprised of what people think of me and what others want me to do but not what I truly want for myself.
“Being burnt out and not finding any excitement for the opportunity I’ve had has made a huge inner battle with myself where my anxiety has sky rocketed. This life should never be fueled by money, and I am very thankful for the opportunity. The support I’ve had from everyone through this process has been amazing. Thank you.”
