Just how close is Peyton Manning to breaking Brett Favre’s record?
Peyton Manning will enter into week 6 just 5 touchdowns away from tying Brett Favre with 508 career touchdowns thrown. That is an impressive statistic, but let’s guesstimate how many games it will take Peyton to throw six touchdowns to break the record.
Like we said Manning needs just 6 touchdowns, and his next three games are against the Jets, The Niners and then the Chargers. By reviewing his stats Manning will break the record week 8 against the Chargers.
In his career against the Jets, Manning has scored a total of 17 touchdowns over 9 games including the playoffs. So if you break down the stats, Manning will likely toss 2 touchdowns against the Jets, at the most 3.
In his career against the 49ers who the Broncos face in week 7, Manning has 4 career touchdowns in 3 games. The Niners have done a good job at stopping Manning, which leads us to believe he will likely throw around 2 touchdowns against the 49ers tough defense. This could be the week he breaks the record, but lets just give him the extra cushion for week 8.
This gets us to week 8 against the Chargers, who Manning has put up some ridiculous numbers. He has scored 25 touchdowns against. This will push him over the mark for the sixth touchdown to pass Brett Favre.
Now that you know the stats, which game do you think Manning will break the record in?
