Patriots bring back Austin Collie after releasing him a few weeks ago

The New England Patriots have re-signed wide receiver Austin Collie. Collie played four games this season before being released after hurting his knee in a 55-31 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 3. He had three catches after signing with the Patriots as a free agent Oct. 3. Two of those came on the winning drive in a 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Collie spent his other four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, catching 176 passes. He was a productive slot receiver but had at least three concussions since November 2010 and left another game with concussion-like symptoms. He missed three games early last season because of a concussion and played in just one game before rupturing his right patellar tendon.

If Collie can get over the injury bug he could be a special player. Concussions have made it hard for the former BYU Cougar.
