What is your name?

Javancy Jones

What is your Height/Weight?

6’1 248

What is your position?

LB/DE

Where do you play college football?

Jackson State University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

I’ve did a lot to be honest but I think the coolest thing was going to the children’s hospital in Jackson. Just to see how little kids can still smile through so much pain was a blessing

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Swimming! I say swimming because I had it right after football workouts and I was extremely fatigued

Where are you from?

Macon, MS, Thee Noxubee County

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my mom. She has taught me so much about life and how to keep going even when things are getting hard!

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played basketball, baseball, ran track, and played tennis. Yes I played tennis lol

Did you play any other positions in football?

I’ve played RB, WR, TE, LB, DE, One Tech and the Three Tech

At your position, what separates you from others?

My effort is what separates me. I give my all no matter what the situation. Coaches always told me you can teach skill, but you can’t teach effort and that is some I have naturally!

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look at a team’s tendencies on each down as far as run vs pass based on the yardage needed.  That helps me apply it to game situations.  I also like to look at what types of plays they run out of different formations so I will have a good idea of what to expect when I see a certain formation.  I look for the tendencies of the opposing offensive lineman and running backs based on specific formations.  I like to study their blocking styles so I can easily counter their moves and get to the ball.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Isaiah Crowell

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Khalil Mack because of his versatility.  Like me, he played DE, ILB, OLB and still excels wherever the coaches need him.  Similarly, we both got all conference awards at two different positions as I was first team DE and second team LB

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

My mom being sick was my biggest obstacle. I overcame that obstacle by giving it all up to God once you give it to God then you have no worries

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I sing my favorite gospel song “Never Would’ve Made It” by Marvin Sapp!

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is my I.Q. Being able to know what the offense is running before they run it.

What is your biggest weakness?

Biggest weakness is my flexibility which I’m working on that now by taking yoga and Pilates.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

You are getting a workhorse. I pride myself on making plays and getting better.  I do whatever is necessary to make the team better – whether that is playing DE or LB or even special teams.  I bring that type of work ethic and commitment to everything I do.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

I don’t have a favorite! I just love the game of football.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

I’ll choose my little girl, my mother, and my deceased grandmother. I’ll choose these 3 to let them know I’m doing it for them and if I don’t make just let them know I gave it all I had.

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

My mom a house with a the medical things she need so I can move her out of the hospital!
