UVA football player arrested on animal cruelty charges

University of Virginia running back Solomon Bebee is facing three misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty in Albemarle County, Virginia.
According to Cville Right Now, Bebee was arrested Monday, August 17, following three reported incidents that allegedly occurred over the course of last week. Authorities seized a dog the day after the final reported incident.
Bebee appeared in court for the first time Thursday, August 20. The three animal cruelty charges remain pending as the case moves through the legal process.
Bebee, a transfer running back at Virginia, has not publicly commented on the allegations.
Virginia Athletics declined to comment on the situation. The university told Cville Right Now that it does not comment on ongoing criminal proceedings or student records.
The allegations are criminal charges, and Bebee is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
