Florida State Kicker Arrested on Spring Break for Battery on a Police Officer
Florida State kicker Conor McAneney was arrested Wednesday while on a spring break trip in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is now facing multiple serious charges.
According to reports, the incident began at Rock Bar on Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, where McAneney was allegedly involved in a trespassing situation. Authorities say the encounter escalated, leading to charges that include battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence, both classified as felonies, along with a misdemeanor trespassing charge.
Following the arrest, McAneney was taken to a nearby medical facility as a precaution before being transported to jail.
McAneney is a sophomore from Plumbridge, Tyrone in Northern Ireland.
He came to Florida State as a transfer from Quincy University in Illinois. He appeared in 11 games as a placekicker and kickoff specialist, converting 7 of 10 field-goal attempts with a long of 45 yards. He also handled kickoffs, averaging 60.2 yards on 49 attempts with 16 touchbacks.
In response to the situation, a Florida State spokesperson confirmed to Noles247 that McAneney has been suspended indefinitely from all team-related activities as the legal process unfolds.
