How Long Should the Steelers wait for Aaron Rodgers' decision?
Could Aaron Rodgers Retire, Leaving the Steelers in Limbo?

The Pittsburgh Steelers remain “optimistic” about signing Aaron Rodgers, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano. The team has maintained ongoing communication with the 41-year-old quarterback since meeting with him in person during free agency. However, Rodgers’ most recent public remarks suggest that personal matters currently take precedence over football decisions.

If Rodgers were to join the Steelers, he would likely step into the starting role immediately—particularly if he’s still open to taking a one-year deal for as little as $10 million, as previously reported.

In the meantime, the Steelers have brought back Mason Rudolph after a one-year absence. The organization has voiced confidence in Rudolph’s ability to lead the offense through at least the 2025 season, even if that belief isn’t widely shared outside the building. Behind Rudolph, the quarterback room includes Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard, a sixth-round pick.

Still, with Rodgers’ future uncertain and no guarantee he’ll return to the field, Pittsburgh could find itself in a difficult position if he ultimately decides to retire—especially after building hope around the potential addition of a future Hall of Famer.
