West Florida announced the passing of football player Ben Conken

The University of West Florida athletics community is mourning the loss of football player Ben Conken, who passed away following a battle with cancer.
According to the University of West Florida, Conken was diagnosed with cancer shortly after joining the Argos football program. Before continuing his football career at the collegiate level, Conken was a standout at Cottage Hill Christian, where he graduated as a member of the Class of 2024.
Cottage Hill Christian remembered Conken as an impact player both on and off the field. He continued to pursue his passion for football at UWF, becoming part of the Argos family while courageously facing his illness.
The UWF football community, his former teammates, coaches, family, friends, and the Cottage Hill Christian community are now grieving his passing and remembering the impact he made during his life.
Funeral services for Conken will be held Saturday, August 22, at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, located at 4255 Cottage Hill Road. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ben Conken’s family, teammates, coaches, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His life may have been far too short, but the impact he made on those around him will not be forgotten.
