Two More UGA football players arrested in reckless driving-related incident

Two University of Georgia football players were arrested last Wednesday night in Athens, continuing a concerning trend of driving-related incidents connected to the program over the past several years.
According to jail records, linebackers Chris Cole and Darren Ikinnagbon were taken into custody by Athens-Clarke County Police Department and charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and speeding. Ikinnagbon was also charged with following too closely. Both players posted bond shortly after being booked and were released.
In a statement provided to CBS Sports, a Georgia spokesperson acknowledged the situation but declined further comment.
“We are aware of the charges and are actively gathering additional information. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment at this time.”
The arrests add to scrutiny surrounding the Georgia Bulldogs, whose program has dealt with multiple driving-related incidents involving players over the past three years.
Cole, a key contributor to Georgia’s defense last season, emerged as one of the team’s top pass rushers. He finished the year with 59 total tackles, a team-leading 4.5 sacks, and two pass breakups. He played alongside linebacker CJ Allen, who is widely regarded as a potential 2026 NFL Draft prospect.
No additional disciplinary action from the program has been announced at this time.
