What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
My father, once he put the ball in my hand it was love at first sight. Once he was gone I continued playing because that’s what made me feel close to him. Now that I’ve grown such a profound love for the game playing to honor him has made everything more worth it.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My favorite moments have to be the lifelong connections I’ve made with so many players from around the world. Because of football, I now have friends from Canada all the way to Japan. Being able to connect with young men from so many different cultures, countries, and backgrounds has made football a valuable part of my life.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Going forward I want to achieve my lifelong aspiration and dream of playing professional football. I’ve played this game since I was 5 years old, to see how hard my family has worked to support me and to see how my mother has put her own life on hold just to see me succeed. I want to be able to give my mom the opportunity to see her hard work as well as mine payoff. I want to show all the young kids that have supported me and that are fans of my journey that those “Diamond in the Rough” stories still exists. Everyone does not get the ideal path or opportunity but as long as you keep working and striving for what you want, you can achieve it.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
I would have loved to hangout with Walter Payton, rest and peace to him first and foremost. To see his passion through the way he played this game is absolutely admirable. Him being my favorite player I took the time to study his game and watch interviews he’s taken part in. It’s quite a surprise to see how humble and how genuine he was as a man and athlete.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My older brother Najee Seabrooks inspires me the most. He passed away in 2023, before he passed away I watched him dedicate his life to community service and spread endless love and positivity throughout a city that most people may be intimidated or scared to even go to. His deep love for where we grew up inspired me to do the same through my own passion which is football.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
The spread offense is my favorite because it uses wide receiver sets (3-5 receivers) and shotgun/pistol formations to spread the defense, it creates space for both passing and running plays, quick throws (screens, slants) or (option plays) to expose gaps, forcing defenders to cover more ground and making it harder to stop the run. It gives you the opportunity to tempo while still being able to show versatile formations (Quads, Bunch), RPOs.
What should we know about Zaheer Seabrooks the person?
I’m very humble, intentional, and genuine, I love seeing everyone around me do well. I am a selfless person with soft and loving energy. Everyone tends to gravitate towards me once they meet me. I am faith driven and always strive for achievement in every aspect of my life.
What stands out about your film the most?
My passionate leadership through my play on the field. I’m not the screaming and yelling kind of guy in the gym or in practice or in the locker room. When it’s in between the lines and in between the whistle, my energy on the field radiates through the entire offense. My playmaking ability even when the ball is not in my hands makes everyone around me elevate.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
When it comes to challenges whether it’s in life or on the football field I view them as lessons. When challenges arise on and off the field, I always ask myself “What am I supposed to learn from this?” I take that chance to come to my coaches and teammates or my family and mentors for advice because you cannot always expect to do everything alone. Being able to remember my “Why” and remember what has got me this far discipline, faith, and grit has always pushed me through my challenges/lesson on and off the field.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Any team that gives me the blessing and opportunity to be a part of their organization will get an all-around and complete football player. Marketable, coachable, determined, humble, and hungry athlete. I pride myself on being that guy that a team can have for years and depend on.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
What I love most about football is that this is the ultimate team sport. No one player alone can win a game, to win a football game everyone has to be on the same page and on one accord. Basketball you can have a guy that scores 40 points by himself. Football, one person cannot score a touchdown by their self. Even if the quarterback runs a 99 yard touchdown, he still needs the center to snap the ball and the offense to block. It takes unity to win football games. There is no other sport like football.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Shaun Dolac, hands down has to be the player I choose. I had the honor of playing with him in prep school, he plays linebacker. He is not the biggest or the fastest guy on the field, but he is a true technician of his position. Going against him in practice elevated my game so much. Seeing how hard he worked and how tough he was in the environment that we were in made me step up which ultimately received his approval. He is a good person who pushed everyone around him to step up. To see him now playing for the LA Rams shows where determination and dedication can get you.
