Ferris State Claims Second Straight National Championship with 42–21 Win Over Harding

McKinney, Texas — The Ferris State University football program etched its name further into Division II history on Saturday night, defeating Harding University 42–21 to capture its second consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship.

The Bulldogs delivered a complete performance on college football’s biggest stage, combining offensive efficiency, defensive toughness, and championship-level execution to secure another national title.

Ferris State seized control early and maintained momentum throughout the contest, finishing the game with 587 total yards of offense while holding Harding to 326 yards. The Bulldogs scored six touchdowns and consistently won the battle at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Wyatt Bower led the way with a standout performance, accounting for five total touchdowns. Bower completed 10 of 16 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, while adding three rushing touchdowns to power the Ferris State offense.

The Bulldogs’ ground game played a pivotal role, with Chase Carter rushing for 111 yards, highlighted by a decisive 64-yard touchdown run that broke the game open in the second half. Ferris State’s balanced attack kept Harding’s defense off balance and allowed the Bulldogs to control time of possession and field position.

Defensively, Ferris State limited Harding’s explosive offense and made key stops at critical moments. The Bulldogs forced turnovers and prevented Harding from sustaining drives, ensuring momentum never swung for long.

Harding showed determination throughout the game, reaching the end zone three times, but Ferris State answered each score. A 14-yard touchdown reception by Carson Gulker capped the Bulldogs’ scoring and sealed the outcome.

Following the championship victory, linebacker Zay Byars expressed appreciation for the support behind the Bulldogs’ title run.

“Thank you for coming to support us,” Byars said. “We appreciate you.”

With the 42–21 victory, Ferris State secured its second straight national championship, reinforcing the program’s status as a Division II powerhouse. The Bulldogs’ ability to rise to the occasion on the national stage once again reflects the culture, consistency, and championship standard that define Ferris State football.

Ferris State leaves the season as national champions once again — not just repeating history, but strengthening a growing legacy at the top of Division II football.
