NFL free agent Tracy Walker was arrested early Monday morning in Las Vegas on suspicion of driving under the influence after police say he was found asleep behind the wheel during a traffic stop.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the 30-year-old safety was pulled over around 2 a.m. near Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard after an officer observed his Chevrolet Corvette speeding above the posted 45 mph limit. When the officer returned to issue a citation, Walker was reportedly asleep in the driver’s seat.

Police said Walker eventually woke up after multiple attempts to get his attention. Officers then instructed him to exit the vehicle and noted a “strong” odor of alcohol along with visible signs of impairment, including swaying while standing. Walker told officers he had been coming from a nearby lounge near Decatur and Flamingo Road.

Walker failed a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where two vials of blood were collected for testing. Results of those tests were not included in the initial police report.

Court records show Walker was charged with DUI and released on his own recognizance later that same day. He is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court for a status check on January 8.

Walker, a former Detroit Lions captain, spent six seasons with the team after being selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisiana-Lafayette. He became a free agent after his release earlier this year.
