High School Football Player in Ohio Paralyzed after Tackle During his First Game

A 15-year-old Ohio high school football player was left paralyzed after suffering a spinal cord injury during his first game.
Tuscarawas Valley High School freshman Mayson White was injured while making a tackle on Aug. 22. His mother, Amanda White, told reporters that her son fractured his C4 vertebrae, which put pressure on his spine.
Mayson was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Following the procedure, Amanda White said her son has limited mobility — some movement in his right arm and the ability to shrug his shoulders — but no movement in his legs.
The Tuscarawas Valley community has rallied around Mayson and his family. At the Trojans’ game on Aug. 29, fans filled the stands in white as a show of support. The district also posted photos of students and staff dressed in white earlier that day in honor of the freshman.
Please keep the White family in your prayers. This is such a horrible story.
