Indiana High School Football Player Drowns during a Football Fundraiser

An Indiana community is heartbroken following the tragic passing of Noah Maddox, a junior at Floyd Central High School, who drowned while supporting a fundraiser for the school’s football team.
On Friday evening, Maddox was helping teammates deliver mulch to homes near Highland Lake Drive as part of a team fundraiser. After their deliveries, a group of players entered the lake to cool off. Tragically, Noah drowned during the swim.
New Albany-Floyd County Schools Superintendent Travis Madison expressed deep condolences and recognized the profound impact of Noah’s passing on students, staff, and families. In response, grief counselors have been made available at Floyd Central High School to provide support during this difficult time.
This tragedy comes as the region continues to mourn another young life lost — Bryce Gerlach, a Corydon Central student who was fatally shot during the 2024 Harvest Homecoming.
