What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I wanted to play football since a kid. I watched my brothers growing up from a young age and fell in love ever since. Even now I have a son who’s 4 and he loves football only because I’m playing it. So the love of football is strong in my family.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
I would have to say the journey, the growth of who’ve I’ve become on the field and off. Every moment hasn’t been perfect but that’s the part I love. The good, the bad, and the ugly of the journey. Failing and trying again. A moment from youth football, to high school and college all taught me anything is possible.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I want to be the best I can be. I want to to be in a conversation with every great receiver. While helping win some super bowls. I want to show the world who I am.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
I would have to say Sean Taylor and Jerry Rice. Sean Taylor not just because he was a great player but what he stood for and how he carried himself. I wish I could’ve met him and Jerry Rice because he’s one of the goats, would love to soak up that type of information.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mother inspires me the most. She always has taken care of my brothers and I when it’s hard being a single mother with 3 growing boys. She worked through being tired and in pain. She has always believed in me and I want to make her proud.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
My favorite offensive scheme would have to be the pro style. What we see in the league a lot, I feel like you can exploit a defense in so many different ways. Through the run, through the air all around. I’ve been apart of a run heavy offense so I think in the right scheme I can really show what I can do.
What should we know about Sevonne Rhea the person?
I’m big on faith, without Jehovah God I wouldn’t be here. I would want people to know I’m a father, I’m big on family and support. I have 6 brothers, I am the youngest of 7.
What stands out about your film the most?
Big plays, flipping the field, speed. On the outside and in the slot. My film is what I was allowed to do in the system I was in. I have so much that I can’t wait to show people.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I’ve been faced with a lot of challenges on and off the field. I learned to flip everything negative to positive and that you might have to fail over and over to get one win. You only fail when you stop trying.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A player who has a chip on his shoulder and wants to be the best. A player you don’t have to worry about on or off the field. I’m here to take care of business and help win ball games.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I love how it teaches everyone about themselves, who you really are when you’re tested mentally or physically sometimes emotionally. I love how it taught me so many meaningful lessons. Even when certain people try to take the fun out of it, when I run on the grass I still feel the same as a kid.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Got to be my brother KG, Khalan Griffin which is crazy because he still had 1,100 yds this season but they want to see more and that’s what he’ll show them, we both have to.
