A Late Round Draft Pick With High Upside

2025 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: David Walker, Edge, University of Central Arkansas
David Walker is one of the best small school football players in the country. The star Edge Rusher from the University of Central Arkansas. Check out why Kristopher Jermany believes David is a star in the making!

Adequate size starting Edge that has solid weight and power for the next level. Solid athlete who displays solid AA and COD with a quick first step off the line with quick active hands to coincide with a solid chop, ghost move, and bull rush to create a versatile pass rush plan that consistently causes pressure and sacks.

David has a good competitive motor but can be slowed down by a big OT with solid athleticism. This can knock his timing and balance off, but he can win his fair share of battles. Solid single long-arm strike, given his speed and play strength.

Displays good reads and reacts well to all run plays (Inside Zone, Outside zone, and QB scrambles). He has a good motor and is not afraid to tackle whoever ball carrier that comes his way. Solid, fundamental tackling where he wraps and stops any extra yards.

He has solid recovery and chase play should be used as a left or right rusher on FG/PAT block and right DE on punt rush to attack upfield. Marked as a late-round draft to UDFA, but with good upside.

To conclude in this year’s Draft Class the talent level at the Defensive Line is sort of sporadic in a sense. However, what pops off about Walker’s tape is his first step and the solid ability to turn his speed into power. He is a type of player that will show up to any game no matter the opponent nor obstacles that he may face.

Especially coming from a smaller school (FCS) he needed to show his competitive nature in which he has done consistently. From a statistical standpoint he finished the 2024 season with 72 total tackles 18 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. So yes, he will make any team that Draft’s him very happy.
