What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I just wanted to follow my brother’s footsteps. He made my mom, dad and me proud, and I wanted to continue doing it.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
The moments in between praying with my team and for my team and having bible study and just connecting with people.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I’m looking to inspire people coming after me letting them know it’s possible and helping the next generation going as far as I can.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
I would hang out with Kevon Latulas and he’s my best friend and he’s on the UFL Battlehawks and that’s who I would hang out with for a day.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My brother inspires me to be tough, my mom inspires me to be aggressive, and my dad inspires me to be patient. My amazing, beautiful girlfriend, inspires me to be a better man of faith every day and she’s my living breathing reason to know God exists because of her beauty.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
Off man, because I like playing with patience and technique one on one.
What should we know about Jamal McMurrin the person?
I’m a Christian man and my faith comes first.
What stands out about your film the most?
My off-man technique, my footwork and willingness to tackle.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
In life, I give it to God when challenges come together and on the football field I always try to reset and play the next play and be patient and know my time is coming.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Someone who is gritty, is not scared to do the tough things and never backs down from a challenge.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
That it takes a special type of person to play it and only a small percentage play division one football and a even smaller percentage get into the NFL, and it tests your toughness, and each play you can be a quitter or someone who overcomes it.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Carsten Mamaril, he’s a preferred walk on, but he has a great work ethic, is tough and is extremely smart. Keonte McMurrin, my brother, he would’ve been an NFL corner if he got his shot and is two times as good as me.
