Raiders Expected to Release Jack Jones after failing to find trade

The Oakland Raiders are expected to released Jack Jones after failing to find a good trade offer after the corner requested a trade.
Prior to joining the Las Vegas Raiders, Jones emerged as a young promising DB recording 2 interceptions (one of which was a pick six) after starting only 2 games. Half way through his second season, Jones was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 where he started 3 out of 7 games and recorded 2 pick sixes.
Jones recorded a career high in combined tackles at 69 and was a part of a defense that only recorded 10 total interceptions and gave up a total of 3,989 yards in the season good for 16th total.
However, Jones also gave up 698 yards and 9 touchdowns on 16 passes defended. While Jones wasn’t the best defensive back in the league, his release further emphasizes the need for Oakland to improve a defense that has been lagging behind its division rivals in Kansas City, Denver and Los Angeles, especially now that Tre’von Moehrig has signed with the Panthers.
The Raiders have 4 picks in the top 100 and will likely look to use those to improve the defense.
