Florida youth football coach arrested, accused of child sex crimes

A former youth sports coach is facing charges after a victim under the age of 12 reported being inappropriately touched while being driven home by the suspect.
Christopher Chell, 44, was extradited to the Marion County Jail from Alachua County on Monday, following a warrant for lewd and lascivious molestation.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was initially reported on February 10, 2025, when deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a sexual battery allegation.
The juvenile victim told investigators that Chell had assaulted him while giving him a ride home from a flag football game in October 2022.
Detectives from Alachua County initially began the investigation, but after determining the crime occurred in Marion County, the case was handed over to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
