UF to the NFL: Chimere Dike’s Path to Pro Football

When the NFL announced the All-Combine Offensive Team on Tuesday, March 3rd  among those honored was former Wisconsin Badger and Florida Gator wide receiver Chimere Dike.

Time at UF

Dike transferred to the University of Florida in December 2023, seeking a fresh start and a chance to reunite with longtime quarterback Graham Mertz, who had transferred to UF the previous offseason. In his lone season as a Gator, Dike put together his best collegiate campaign, recording 42 receptions for 783 yards and two touchdowns, along with 16 kick returns for 187 yards. His best performance came against #5 Texas, where he hauled in five receptions for 95 yards in Florida’s 49-17 loss. Before transferring to UF, Dike compiled 97 receptions for 1,479 yards and nine touchdowns over four seasons at Wisconsin.

Showcasing Athleticism

His strong fifth-year performance earned him invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, the Hula Bowl, and ultimately the NFL Combine, where he showcased his athleticism:

  • 40-yard dash: 4.34 seconds (3rd among WRs)
  • Vertical jump: 38.5 inches (8th among WRs)
  • Broad jump: 10’8” (7th among WRs)

At 6’0.5” and 196 pounds, Dike is currently projected as a Day 3 draft pick, but his strong Combine showing and upcoming Pro Day could push him into the middle rounds. He brings blocking ability, slot/boundary versatility, a solid route tree, and special teams potential, along with the willingness to absorb contact to make tough catches. However, some weaknesses in his game include:

  • Playing at one consistent speed, lacking an extra gear to extend plays
  • Running rounded routes, which could allow defensive backs to jump his patterns
  • 17 career drops compared to 11 touchdowns (per PFF)

With the 2025 NFL Draft set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin—just two hours from his hometown of Waukesha, Wisconsin—Dike will look to become the 44th Florida Gators wide receiver drafted.
