What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I believe what made me decide to be a football player was just my overall physical abilities. I think that growing up I watched all NFL games with my parents and always just wanted to be like one of them. I started playing at the age of five when my dad was the coach and playing for him just made it more easier to go to practice and end up doing the thing I love to do the most which is played ball.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

my favorite moments from my football life have to be my two bowl wins. One in the Birmingham bowl in 2022 and also the Military bowl this past year in 2024. Those two moments specifically are probably one of my favorite moments of my entire life not just with football. I think the memories I have with the guys on those teams from the offseason workouts to pre season camp and the season just made it more special for us.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I’m looking to achieve just the upmost knowledge of the game. This time in my life specifically I just want to be a sponge of all the knowledge I get about the draft process about the NFL, not on the field, but off the field as well. And most importantly, I’m just looking forward to achieving success. I hope that I get drafted and go to a team and I can be a valuable part of that team.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

If I had the option to hang out with any football player for a day I would love to hang out with Saquon Barkley or a person that played my position is Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez . I think the knowledge and wisdom I would get from these two individuals would definitely help me as I go through this process for myself.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

If I had to pick one of my family members that inspires me the most it would definitely be my dad. Just knowing where he came from and how it was hard to do the things that he wanted to do back then just makes it more inspiring to go harder. But every one of my family members is very important to me and my motivation for everything.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

My favorite offensive scheme would definitely have to be any type of wide spread in 12 personnel. 12 personnel gives the ability to have two tight ends on the field at one time and I think having that allows, you to run the ball more efficiently and also gives you more reliable targets in the pass game. The tight ends are the “Mr Do it all” in the offense and makes it more efficient.

What should we know about Tyler Savage the person?

The most important thing people should know about me, Tyler Savage, is my relentless work ethic. I thrive on challenges, love to compete, and take pride in pushing myself to be better every day. I believe my teammates would say the same about me. But beyond football, my faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of who I am. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without His blessings. To me, the game is about more than just playing—it’s about the impact you have on those who look up to you and the community around you. I’m passionate about giving back, supporting others, and striving to be the best teammate and person I can be.

What stands out about your film the most?

What stands out about my film is my physicality in the run game. I take pride in being dominant at the point of attack, creating lanes for my running backs, and doing the dirty work that makes big plays possible. I always remind myself that touchdowns and receptions don’t happen without the effort in the trenches. Additionally, my reliability as a target in the passing game sets me apart. I have a strong understanding of where to be and when to be there, creating a natural connection with my quarterbacks. That combination of physicality and dependability is what makes me a well-rounded tight end.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I handle challenges on and off the field by leaning on my faith in God, my family, and the hard work I put in every day. My faith keeps me grounded and reminds me that every obstacle is part of a bigger plan. No matter what I face, I know that God has a purpose for me, and that gives me the strength to keep pushing forward. My family is my rock—they support me through every high and low, always encouraging me to be the best version of myself. And when it comes to football, I trust my training. I know that the work I put in will prepare me for any situation, and that confidence helps me stay focused and ready. With my faith, my support system, and my dedication to the game, I know I can overcome anything.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would be getting a true winner in every sense of the word. As I mentioned earlier, they’d get a player who isn’t afraid to do the dirty work—someone who takes pride in being physical in the run game and a reliable target in the passing game. Beyond my performance on the field, I know how to carry myself professionally in any situation, including media interviews, and I understand the importance of representing an organization the right way. Most importantly, they’d be getting a leader—both in the locker room and in the community. Everywhere I’ve been, I’ve been counted on to set the tone, mentor younger teammates, and bring people together, whether that’s through leadership, encouragement, or simply taking my teammates out to eat and building chemistry. My respect for others, my reliability, and my commitment to being both a great player and a great person make me someone a team can count on, both on and off the field.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

What I love most about the game of football are the bonds and memories built with my teammates, as well as the adversity that shapes you for life. Football isn’t just about winning games, it’s about the brotherhood that forms through the blood, sweat, and sacrifices we make together. The relationships built in the locker room, on the field, and through shared struggles, create a connection that lasts far beyond the game itself. The adversity that comes with football is just as important. The challenges, setbacks, and battles push you to your limits and teach you resilience, discipline, and perseverance qualities that translate to every aspect of life. Football prepares you to handle whatever comes your way, and that’s what makes it so special to me.
