Witnessing Greatness: Why I think it’s good the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce Make History in Chiefs' 27-20 Win Over Raiders
Witnessing Greatness: Why I think it’s good the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl

Many people are lamenting the fact that the Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl. Fans are irritated to see Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and the gang back in the bug game with a golden opportunity for a three-peat. My personal feeling is the opposite: I want the Chiefs to win.  Why?

  1. Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the game.  He is still in his prime.  If the Chiefs win it would continue to cement the profound truth that the quarterback means everything to the success of a pro franchise.  Additionally, Mahomes regularly gives God the glory after every win. I admire and respect his Christian faith.
  2. It is awesome to witness a team compete at a high level for so long.  It was great to witness the Patriots’ dynasty, and it’s equally great to witness what has been going on in Kansas City.
  3. Fans want parity, yet despite a league that encourages it with the salary cap, few teams have been able to top the Chiefs over the past three years.  Most of the league isn’t very good, and as I’ve advocated for many years, it’s time for a new approach. Maybe the Chiefs winning yet again will challenge owners and clubs to question hiring practices and bring in fresh faces (it probably won’t, but hey, it’s worth a try, right?).

So, I hope Kansas City wins on Sunday.  Go Chiefs.  Prediction: 35-24.
