What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Just started playing in 5th grade and from that point I fell in love with how many touchdowns we were scoring.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Winning a conference championship in high school and winning a conference championship at Northern Illinois and beating Notre Dame this past season.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

Getting into the NFL and that was a huge achievement for my younger self.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

Ed Reed, just because he was one of the greatest safeties back then and he was a comedian off the field.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My dad, he always told me to work hard, and you get nothing for free and I also get inspired by my dad because of how hard he worked to take care of us.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

4-2-5, just because I played it all through high school and college and the way you disguise plays and how you have blitzes and man and zone calls.

What should we know about Nate Valcarcel the person?

I’m a steal of this draft; I can make plays while blitzing and can play deep post and man coverage and can make plays efficiently.

What stands out about your film the most?

My effort and ability to make plays on the ball.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

The way my parents raised me, I am very religious and keep my life balanced by praying through any challenge I have throughout my day.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A hardworking guy can play special teams right away and play in the system comfortably right away.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

It lets you compete with the man in front of you and you have to communicate at all levels to win the game.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Jashon Prophete, he declared for the draft as well, he’s a very solid nickel and plays at a high level and locked down every single wide receiver we played this year including Notre Dame.
