Get to know Hayden Harris, a top defensive end prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft. Discover what sets him apart and his impressive attributes.

What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2025 NFL Draft?

From a physical perspective, I bring all the necessary attributes to the table. I have an excellent frame, along with the speed and awareness to react to whatever comes my way. I am a student of the game who is always eager to learn and someone who will fight tooth and nail to win. I’ve consistently been a leader by example and have demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level with elite production.

What sets me apart is my mindset toward the game. I have overcome adversity and challenges throughout my career and have continually improved and thrived in high-pressure situations.

What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you?

I have always thrived through adversity. I’ve played nearly every position on the field and spent most of my life as a quarterback, with 12 years of experience playing the position. Seeing the game through the eyes of a quarterback has given me a leader’s perspective and the ability to piece things together to solve problems.

I will continue to learn and grow through the game, using my past experiences in multiple positions to see football through a lens that few others can.

If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be?

I would donate to help find a cure for cancer, as it is something very personal to me. Members of my family have faced significant hardships related to health, especially cancer.

I want to be an advocate for those fighting through adversity. Cancer is a terrifying disease, but it can be overcome, and any support toward research and treatment would make a meaningful impact on society.

Who was your role model?

My role model growing up has always been Russell Wilson. He is a man of faith and a leader both on and off the field. He has consistently put others before himself and has given everything he has to his family and his team.

Russell isn’t just a great athlete he’s also a great man, and that combination is what I aspire to emulate.

Who is your favorite NFL team?

My favorite NFL team has always been the Seattle Seahawks. However, over the years, my passion for the franchise has shifted. At this point, I would be grateful to play for any team that gives me the opportunity to compete and contribute.

Who is the most underrated teammate at your school?

I believe there are many underrated players at the University of Montana, but if I had to choose one, it would be Brandon Casey. As an offensive lineman, he hasn’t always received the recognition he deserves, but he’s been a great leader and someone I’ve competed with every day.

I believe we’ve made each other better, and his work ethic and leadership inspire me.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is when someone demonstrates a lack of effort or integrity, especially in areas they claim to care about.

I believe in giving your all in every facet of life, and it’s frustrating when others fail to meet even the bare minimum of effort, particularly when others are relying on them.

Who is your favorite teacher ever?

My favorite teachers are my parents. They raised me to be the man I am today. Whether it was driving me to school, practice, or games, they’ve always supported me and my journey in life.

Their unwavering guidance and love have shaped who I am.

Overcoming adversity is what defines character. What was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?

Switching positions constantly throughout my football career has been one of the most challenging parts of my journey. Playing quarterback for so long gave me a great perspective on the game, but changing positions late in my career was difficult to adjust to.

However, this experience has taught me resilience and the confidence to know I can adapt to anything. It has also given me the ability to learn quickly and embrace new challenges.

If you could have any franchise restaurant in your house, what would it be?

I’d choose to have a Qdoba restaurant in my house. It’s similar to Chipotle but, in my opinion, better. It’s also healthier than most fast-food options and provides quick, easy meals.

What is your favorite snack food?

I don’t snack often, but if I had to choose, I’d say Sun Chips, especially the Harvest Cheddar flavor.

What is your degree in?

I received my bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in History from UCLA, and I’m currently finishing my Master of Business Administration at the University of Montana, set to graduate in Spring 2025.

If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

I would first invite Jesus Christ. Without Him, nothing would be possible. I’d ask Him about faith, purpose, and how to live a life of love and humility. I would also invite Kobe Bryant. He was an icon during my childhood. I’d love to learn about his approach to reaching his goals and his mindset for achieving maximum potential. Lastly, I would invite Marcus Aurelius. As one of the greatest Roman emperors and a philosopher, he exemplified wisdom, resilience, and stoic leadership. I’d ask him how to apply his philosophy to today’s fast-paced society.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is being overly self-critical. I tend to be hard on myself when I don’t perform perfectly.

While this trait drives me to improve, it can sometimes slow me down when I need to focus on moving forward. That said, I’m learning to balance self-reflection with celebrating progress, which has helped me grow as both a player and a person.
