FCS Matchups To Watch Week 6
FCS Matchups To Watch Week 6

Hello, I am Justin Berendzen and here are my top five FCS matchups for Week 6 (October 4th-October 5th, 2024) highlighting important players on the teams playing in these and the teams as well.

1. University of North Dakota at North Dakota State University

The Bison are going up against the Fighting Hawks in this one and leading the way for the Bison offensively is senior quarterback Cam Miller who has 1,143 passing yards and 9 passing touchdowns along with 5 rushing touchdowns. In his way for North Dakota’s defense is senior linebacker Wyatt Pedigo who has 30 tackles, 3 !/2 TFLs and 2 sacks. For the Fighting Hawks offense they have wide receiver Bo Belquist who is a definite difference maker who has 478 yards and 5 receiving yards this season. On the defensive side of things for North Dakota State they have senior defensive lineman Eli Mostaert who has 13 tackles, 3 TFLs and 2 sacks in the 2024 season.

2.University of Central Arkansas at Abilene Christian University

This could be a good battle in UAC conference play. The Wildcats offense has redshirt senior running back Isaiah Johnson who has 278 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns on the season so far. In Johnson’s way for the Bears is senior edge rusher David Walker who has 22 tackles, 10 1/2 TFLs and 6 1/2 sacks in 2024. Central Arkansas’s offense is led by speedy running back Shunderrick Powell who has 810 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns this season. Defensively for Abilene Christian they have sophomore defensive back Tyson Williams who has 15 tackles, 4 PBUs and 1 interception so far in 2024.

3.Villanova University at Stony Brook University

The Villanova Wildcats are taking on the Stony Brook Seawolves in what could be an intriguing matchup. The Seawolves are led by their redshirt senior running back Roland Dempster who has 585 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns this season. Villanova’s defense is led by graduate defensive back Ty Trinh who has 21 tackles, 4 TFLs and 2 PBUs and 1 Interception in the 2024 season. The Wildcats offense has redshirt freshman running back Isaiah Ragland who has 330 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns in 2024. Defensively for Stony Brook they have redshirt senior defensive back Rudy Silvera who has 18 tackles, 6 PBUs and 2 interceptions this season.

4. University of Delaware at Monmouth University

This may be an under the radar FCS matchup to watch this week because I believe both of these teams have potential to possibly do things. For Monmouth’s offense they have sophomore wide receiver Josh Derry who has 470 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns in 2024. The Blue Hens defense has sophomore defensive back KT Seay who has 12 tackles and 2 interceptions this season. Delaware’s offense has graduate wide receiver Phil Lutz who has 323 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns this season so far. For the Hawks defense they have junior linebacker Sam Korpoi who has 24 tackles, 2 PBUs, 1 TFL and 1 sack in 2024.

5.South Dakota State University at University of Northern Iowa

This matchup could be interesting considering its a road game for the Jackrabbits and Northern Iowa always usually puts up a fight. Northern Iowa’s defense has redshirt junior linebacker Tucker Langenberg who has 25 tackles, 3 1/2 TFLs and 1 interception on the season. For the Jackrabbits offense they have senior running back Amar Johnson who has 306 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns in 2024. South Dakota State’s defense has senior linebacker Graham Spalding who has 19 tackles, 3 PBUs and 2 TFLs this season. Tye Edwards graduate running back leads the way for the Panthers offense who has 355 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in 2024 so far.
