Minnesota Vikings continue their Hot Streak with Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson
The last time the Minnesota Vikings started a regular NFL season 4-0 was in 2016. Under head coach Mike Zimmer, they began the season with four consecutive wins before finishing the season with an 8-8 record. They are back to a 4-0 start with Sam Darnold at the helm.
Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns with an impressive 123.4 passer rating in the Vikings’ Week 4 victory. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson also had a standout game, catching six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Darnold became the sixth quarterback in NFL history to throw at least two touchdown passes and maintain a passer rating of 105 or higher in each of his team’s first four games. He joins an elite group that includes Tom Brady (2007, 2015), Peyton Manning (2013), Aaron Rodgers (2011, 2020), Matt Ryan (2016), and Russell Wilson (2020).
Jefferson continues to make history, becoming the fifth player since 2000 to record at least 50 receiving yards and a touchdown in each of his team’s first four games. He joins Antonio Gates (2010), T.J. Houshmandzadeh (2007), and Hall of Famers Randy Moss (2007) and Terrell Owens (2004).
Since entering the NFL in 2020, Jefferson has accumulated 6,257 receiving yards, surpassing Julio Jones (6,201) for the fourth-most by any player in their first five seasons. Only Torry Holt (6,784), Randy Moss (6,743), and Jerry Rice (6,364) have more.
