What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I was a three-sport athlete growing up, but developing the love of the game is really what lead me to stick with it. From the struggle, big hits, the small victories, and even the butterflies pregame. Everything about playing gets me excited to strap it up.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite memories playing have always been goal line stands. You and your boys rallying to show you want it more. To me, this is the best feeling in sports.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My dad and both of my grandfathers is my biggest inspiration. I was blessed to be raised by three great men. They each showed me how to take care of your family and most importantly, show up.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The thing I love most about football is growing that chemistry with your teammates. Being able to feed off each other and elevate your level of play.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

If I could hang out with any player, it would hands down be Troy Polamalu. He stays true to himself, but at any moment can be the most dangerous man on the field. He’s a student of the game and most importantly, all action.

What are your favorite things about playing football for CSU Pueblo?

My favorite thing about CSUP is the culture that the program was built on. A program that is tough, accountable, and relentless in everything they do.

What should we know about Makeah Scippio the person?

Something you should know about me is my ‘reason why’. I continue to work for my family, community, and to give back to those who sacrificed for me to get here.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

Personally, I love anything with a 4-man front. Because it doesn’t limit my game and allows me to show off my versatility. And sets up the one on one.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Challenges in life and in football are always met with a self-reflection. Before working on the external or pointing fingers, I always begin with an evaluation of myself.

What would a team get in a player like you?

What I bring to the table is versatility at the edge, a dynamic pass rush, a good leader, and a better teammate.

What stands out about your film the most?

If one thing about my film sticks out, I would say it’s my feel for the game. I’ve played thousands of college snaps, and my experience shows up in crunch time.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

The most underrated teammate I have is Keith McKaney. The work he’s put in and attention to detail is unmatched. He quietly dominates the tough assignments and is a great teammate.
