Player Summary:

SR and 2 yr full-time starter at LB where he lines up predominantly as a MIKE in the 4-3 defense of LASW. He possesses below-average height with solid weight and speed with a lean, muscular build. He is a good athlete showing a combination of good COD, balance, acceleration, explosiveness, lateral quickness and agility with solid top-end play speed. He is above-average against the run. Against the inside run, he shows sufficient FBI as he reads run/pass and displays solid UOH in his punch, placement and timing combined with good play strength and physical toughness as he disengages from IOL with subpar grip strength. He plays at a good pad level and explodes through the hips as he makes the tackle on RB with average size and contact balance. He displays very good range with solid instincts as he plays SL to SL and navigates through traffic while defending the outside run before making the tackle outside the tackle box. He displays average awareness in coverage as he defends the curl and hook zones while reading the QB. In rare instances where he is in man coverage, he is solid at covering RB on underneath routes. He exhibits good mental toughness which enables him to elevate his play in big games. He plays with a very good motor as he plays until the whistle consistently. When he relies on his explosiveness to make the tackle it causes him to miss tackles on RB with good AA and play speed. He displays below-average ball skills which prevents him from timing his hands correctly in an effort to disrupt the trajectory of the ball for a PBU. He is a mediocre pass rusher due to him being stalemated at the LOS against OL with good grip strength and anchor ability due to his lack of quality size.

Scheme Fit:

MLB in 4-3.

Power Statement:

Explosive, athletic, tough player who is good against the run and sufficient against the pass. Above-average range and AA enable him to stop the run all over the field. Struggles to get his hands in the way to create PBU and is below-average as a pass rusher.
