Player Summary:
A multi-year starter who mostly plays as a 0-T in an odd front with occasional duties as a 1-T in an even front that boasts a large lower body with thick thighs and solid AA for his size.
Serves as an anchor in the middle of the defensive line as well as creating pressure in the middle of the pocket. Displays good play strength and good lower body strength against run block and double teams to maintain the line of scrimmage without giving up ground. He has a solid upfield burst and can push the pocket back using a combination of swim, rip, and bullrush moves. Show solid lateral movement and change in direction for his size as he can adjust his hips and follow the play. Is a heavy hitter as a tackler, using his full weight to bring down runners and quarterbacks alike. Has good competitive toughness by fighting through blocks, double teams, and plays through the whistle.
Has adequate get-off speed and explosiveness off of the line of scrimmage and is rarely the first one off of the snap of the ball. Has instances where he focuses too much on displacing blockers and loses gap integrity when facing the run. Would like to see him use his hands and play strength as a weapon to lay the first punch when engaging at the point of attack. Occasionally loses balance against zone run concepts.
Scheme Fit:
He is best used as a 0T/1T with one gap integrity where he can use his play strength, IQ, and competitive toughness to serve as a pocket aggressor in the middle of the defensive line.
Power Statement:
Has the ability to start his career as a rotational player and can work himself into a contributor or full-time starter.
