Pittman’s Pocket: HBCU Football Standouts Shine in Bounce-Back Week
This week was a significant one for several HBCU football programs, as they showcased resilience and skill on the field. A number of players delivered outstanding performances, helping their teams achieve crucial victories. Here’s a look at some of the standout athletes and their respective programs.
JaCobian Morgan – Jackson State
Jackson State’s quarterback, JaCobian Morgan, had an impressive performance, showcasing both his passing and rushing abilities. Morgan completed 13 of 22 passes for 185 yards, adding two touchdowns through the air. He also proved dangerous on the ground, rushing 10 times for 96 yards and scoring two additional touchdowns, making it a total of four for the game.
Jacorian Sewell – Alcorn State
Alcorn State’s running back, Jacorian Sewell, dominated the Mississippi Valley State defense with an outstanding rushing display. Sewell carried the ball 12 times for 164 yards and capped off his performance with a touchdown, playing a crucial role in Alcorn’s success.
Walker Harris – North Carolina Central
North Carolina Central’s quarterback, Walker Harris, delivered an exceptional passing game, completing 19 of 25 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns. His efficiency and poise helped lead his team to victory.
Eric Phoenix – South Carolina State
South Carolina State’s quarterback, Eric Phoenix, showcased his arm strength and accuracy, going 22 of 33 for 367 yards, with three touchdowns. While Phoenix did throw two interceptions, his performance was still a key factor in his team’s win.
Both North and South Carolina teams emerged victorious this weekend, adding to the excitement of HBCU football fans.
