Iowa High School Football Player Tragically Killed in Car Accident
An Iowa High School football player was killed in a tragic car accident in Black Hawk County.
Five teenagers were in a Nissan Pathfinder SUV, when the driver failed to stop at an intersection, colliding with a Buick Rendezvous SUV.
A 53-year-old woman had to be extricated and airlifted to Iowa Health Care.
Gavin Rohrbach, age 17, of La Porte City, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four teens were taken to local hospitals and are expected to recover, to include four teenage males who were occupants of the Nissan Pathfinder SUV that carried Rohrbach. Justice Luke, 17, of Buckingham; Keegan Brooks, 16, of Traer; Evan Hanus, 17, of La Porte City; and Brayden Bohnsack, 18, of La Porte City were transported for non-life threatening injuries by ambulance or assessed and released from the scene.
Gavin Rohrbach was a tight end and linebacker for Union Community High School. He was a 6’2 linebacker that was close to 200 pounds.
The crash remains under investigation by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.
