Penn State football player charged with Driving Under the Influence of Marijuana
Penn State football star Amin Vanover was charged on Monday with driving under the influence of marijuana, according to reports.
The 23-year-old defensive end for the Nittany Lions was stopped in State College for an expired registration plate on his 2021 Dodge Charger.
The clothes smelled of marijuana and his eyes were bloodshot and sleepy.
Vanover then failed field sobriety and drug impairment detection tests and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana.
Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin was asked if there will be any internal punishment for Vanover.
“I think you guys know that have covered us for a long time, I don’t know if there’s been very many times, if any, that I’ve talked about internal punishments that we’ve had,” Franklin said Tuesday. “We released a statement on it. But I don’t think there’s been many times where I’ve actually told you guys what the internal punishment was going to be.”
Vanover has played a combined 61 defensive snaps in two games this season.
