Player Summary:
5th Yr SR. Recent transfer from Syracuse. Very good height with an athletic frame. Long arms and muscular torso. Ability to add more weight to his frame. Solid FBI and field awareness. Solid athlete with a combination of adequate COD, balance, lateral quickness/agility, and solid acceleration. A long, smooth strider that is deceptively quick. Has second gear once reaching top speed. Possesses good footwork to execute good releases at LOS. Fluid in the open field against man/zone. Uses large frame to gain advantage against matchup. Attacks zone and uses solid FBI to identify soft spots, often rerouting to adjust to defensive looks. Solid route runner that utilizes good footwork while breaking off his stem. Shows adequate hands overall with a wide catch radius. He is average in contested catch situations as he often mistimes jump and doesn’t adjust well to matchup sizes differential, leading to missed opportunities where his size should be advantageous. Average AA, play speed, and good instinctual feel for the game. A solid run blocker who shows willingness to block. Good physical toughness at the POA. Keeps eyes up and accelerates feet, and sets a good base to maintain his block.
Scheme Fit:
X/Y receiver in balanced offense
Power Statement:
Damien has elite height that moves well for his size. Smooth and fluid route runner. Willing run blocker. Light frame that has to add weight to withstand the rigors of next level. Could foresee an attempt to move him to Z to create mismatch problems with LB’s/nickels and take advantage of aforementioned fluidity and AA.
