Player Summary:
5th YR RS JR and 1 yr full-time starter on the OL where he aligns at C in the gap-heavy blocking scheme of VALB. He transferred from WVUN in ‘23. He possesses marginal height and weight with a stocky build. He is a sufficient athlete showing a combination of solid COD, explosiveness, acceleration, lateral quickness, and agility with average balance and sufficient play speed. He is a solid run blocker. On base blocks, he fires out low, latches on, and drives 1T off the ball with his good leverage and foot drive. When pulling, he uses his solid lateral quickness and agility to get to the perimeter. He then latches on and uses his good play strength and momentum to seal off LB with ordinary physical toughness creating a lane for the RB. On combo blocks, he effectively gets hip to hip with the OG, drives the DT off the ball before peeling off, and overpowers ILB with adequate size. He shows good physical toughness as he finishes blocks to the ground against IDL and LB with adequate balance. He is solid in pass pro. He plays with a good, wide base and bends at the knee while exhibiting average balance. He displays good play strength as he anchors against IDL with an ordinary get-off. He exhibits sufficient reactive athleticism as he picks up stunts and twists from DE with subpar lateral quickness and agility twisting towards the A gap. He displays good mental toughness as he elevates his play near the goal line. He displays ordinary UOH due to a lack of consistency in his hand placement as he struggles to get his hands inside consistently both while run blocking and in pass pro. He shows adequate counter ability against DL and LB with quick hands and a solid pass-rush move repertoire.
Scheme Fit:
OC in the gap/zone scheme
Power Statement:
Tough, physical player who is solid in pass pro and as a run blocker. He lacks consistency in his hand placement but compensates for it with his good play strength and physical toughness.
