Player Summary:

Jermari Harris is a 5th year senior at the University of Iowa. He had a slow start when he first arrived as he struggled to produce meaningful production. Flashed his potential in 2021, and after suffering a season ending injury in 2022, he came back and picked up right where he left off last season. He possesses good height and wingspan for the position, he is physical at the LOS as he shows good ability to jam opponents and delay their release. Shows good match/mirror ability in both Man & Zone coverage, has good speed and fluid hips to turn and run on vertical concepts. Good tacking and ball skills when he plays with cushion with the play developing in front of him. Plays with good timing with hands downfield in coverage to get hand in and create pass breakup opportunities. Overall solid in run support to leverage lanes and secure tackles both around LOS and in space. Adequate ability to feel leverage on comeback routes when in Off/Bail, opponents have shown consistent ability to create separation due to his adequate transition quickness downhill. Overall adequate route recognition in both Man & Zone, he lacks plus instincts to anticipate underneath routes and bait opposing QB’s. Adequate tracking ability downfield with back to the ball, often indecisive whether to play eyes or get head around to look for the ball.

Scheme Fit:

Cover 2 Press Man

Power Statement:

Jermari Harris is a big/physical corner who fits the mold of the prototypical bump & run corner. He excels in Man when he plays in a phone booth and is able to get hands on opponents, he shows struggles when he works against free releases off the line. While he shows a good understanding of mirroring in Zone, he does not have the instincts to be a serviceable playmaker in that type of scheme. Ultimately, he belongs in a Press Man scheme and if put in that situation, he has the ability to be a quality depth piece in a cornerback room.
