Player Summary

Jason Henderson is a productive Sr linebacker who has a cut and shorter frame. He wins with FBI, lateral quickness, and consistency. He starts with an instant burst off the snap with fluid movement against the run, he uses quick speed to track sideline to sideline and has solid shed abilities to sift through the traffic. He stings the running back and uses a good closing burst to track and bring down the carrier. A good tackler, he also disrupts plays behind the LOS with downhill tracking, filling in his run gap. He has a solid COD to handle cutbacks. He is competitive against the pass, and is nearly immediate to drop back in zone and cover his space. While rarely asked to man, he stays with TE’s when challenged, from short to deeper routes. He possesses good awareness, and is constantly keeping his eyes on the QB and placing himself in position to make a play. Additionally, he often plays a spy role and consistently re-routes scrambles, or pressure to force uncomfortable passes. He is an effective blitzer who quickly shoots to the QB forcing the play or redirecting a block. A 4-down backer who plays without losing a step throughout the game, he uses well-timed hits with his shoulders to knock back pass-protecting running backs. He struggles with functional strength. Against the run he gets caught with blocks and will struggle to shed. This also carries over to his pass rush. Combined with his limited UOH and skill moves, he often finds himself engaged against TE’s and RB’s. If he is unable to run around the OL, he also becomes stagnated. He does not have the power to rush past TE’s and OL’s. He is very aggressive and is subject to misdirection in counter plays. The biggest concern is the ACL injury at the end of last season that he will need to prove he has overcome.

Scheme Fit:

Any 4-3 Scheme

Power Statement:

He is less than a year from a major knee injury and will have to show that he has retained the explosiveness and agility to overcome his physical limitations. He is a strong candidate for success at the next level if he can get back on the pace of his previous 2 seasons.
