What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Growing up I was a big Alabama Crimson Tide fan and my dad pushed me into it, and I tried out for multiple positions and I fell in love with being a kicker/punter.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Playing an SEC team at Arkansas last year and the atmosphere there and hitting a 74-yard punt against UCA at home.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My grandpa, because I was fairly young, and he would take me to the high school field to watch me kick and point out things he thought I could be better at.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

To having the best season yet and transitioning into FBS and winning a conference championship.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Pat McAfee, he’d be someone I would love to hang out with the most.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Missouri State?

Seeing the growth from coming in as a freshman to now and how we’ve progressed and the legacy here and being a part of the change here to be a better team.

What should we know about Grant Burkett the person?

I put on a batman suit when I’m on the field but I’m a normal person off the field, I love to cook and paint and be outdoors.

What is your typical training routine?

Usually go out and warmup and start with 30-50 yards of drops, 10-15 one steps to make sure I hit the ball and work on directional stuff and finish off on the short game and sky punts.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Whenever I’m down on the field or off the field I always remind myself, I’ll be a better person at the end of it and learning how it can be good when things are bad.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A consistent player, a player who works his tail off, who is willing to get better and someone who they can trust to be the best at their position and be a leader.

What stands out about your film the most?

The consistency of it. A guy who can consistently put opposing offenses in a bad spot and accuracy and placement of the ball.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

My long snapper, just because he’s always on target and rarely misses his spot.
