Georgia kicks star receiver off their team following arrest for cruelty to children
Rara Thomas was one of the best wide receivers on the Georgia roster, and after his latest arrest, he is no longer there.
According to sources, Georgia opened practice yesterday without Thomas. The team dismissed him from the team after being arrested on cruelty to children and battery charges.
Coach Kirby Smart said before Thursday’s practice he met with Thomas on Tuesday and informed the junior of the decision.
Thomas was arrested early Friday on felony charges of cruelty to children and misdemeanor battery charges. Georgia announced later Friday that Thomas was indefinitely suspended. Thursday’s announcement made the removal of Thomas from the team permanent.
Thomas was released on $3,500 bond Tuesday.
This is a huge move for Georgia, which has been steady in the news for arrests over the past 24 months.
