Mississippi High School football star was shot after an altercation broke out

A star high school football player was shot over the weekend in Grenada, Mississippi. According to police reports, Chance Jenkins a wide receiver/defensive back in the 2025 senior class was shot after an altercation broke out at the Pine Hill Apartments.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. and involved a fight that escalated into gunfire.
Police arrested Lewis Wiggins Jr., and charged him with aggravated assault for the shooting.
As of now, no bond has been set for Wiggins. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
